ABOUT OUR EARLY LEARNING SERVICE

Welcome to Sparrow Early Learning Grant Street! We are a brand new, purpose-built facility in the heart of Drouin, Victoria centrally located next to Drouin Primary School. We offer early education and care for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years.

At Sparrow Early Learning, our program, practices and learning environments are influenced by The Sparrow Way. The Sparrow Way is inspired by the Reggio Emilia principles and approach to education. The Sparrow Way guides our interactions and relationships with children, where we provide unhurried, pleasurable, caring experiences. From infants up to Kindergarten we encourage children to be active participants in their learning. We value a play based approach to learning which is child led and interest based.

Our studios are spacious and are filled with natural light. Here, children have the opportunity to learn through play with stimulating resources and materials where they can explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways.

We have wonderful, natural outdoor play spaces, including a water play area, a veggie patch, sand play areas and luscious grassed areas for children to explore, grow and play.

Our onsite Chef serves nutritious meals which are freshly prepared in-house with rotating menus which have been developed to ensure our children receive a well-balanced diet. We offer progressive mealtimes and cater for all dietary requirements.

Our curriculum incorporates incursions as well as excursions, creating opportunities to explore our local community. We offer ‘Happy Feet’ dance and movement program and ‘Little Big Sports’ who attend the service on a weekly basis.

Our team at Grant Street are passionate advocates for children, they are dedicated to providing a safe, joyful environment that nurtures relationships and each child’s holistic development as they move through their years at Sparrow.

We welcome you and your family to our service and invite to you join us for a play and an opportunity to explore Sparrow Early Learning Grant Street.

MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER

My name is Tahlia and I have had over 7 years of experience in Early Childhood Education. I currently hold a Diploma in children’s services and attend University part time, studying for a Bachelor in Early Childhood and Primary. I continuously look to further my knowledge and to take those extra steps in my career. Childcare has always been a huge passion of mine and I look forward to fulfilling the role as a Service Manager.

I believe that early childhood education is vital for a child’s development. Each environment focuses on the individual strengths and the needs of the child. We recognise that all children are capable learners and should be given the opportunity to engage in open ended experiences, so our role as Educators is to scaffold each child’s learning and development while in our care.

My focus is to create strong and trusting relationships with all children and their families, engaging in positive interactions allowing the children to feel a sense of being, becoming and belonging. We strive to make this service feel like a second home to all, while fulfilling the child’s need for nurturing, respect and sense of security.

On behalf of the Sparrow Early Learning Grant Street team, we welcome all enquiries and look forward to sharing the Early Childhood journey with you.
