ABOUT OUR EARLY LEARNING SERVICE
We cater for children aged from birth to 6 years. We have a fantastic purpose built centre with four very spacious rooms, well stacked with resources for the children to interact with. Our centre is licensed for 72 children per day and is open from 6.30am to 6.30pm. Included in our fees are nutritious meals which are freshly prepared by our in-house cook and menus have been developed to ensure our children receive a well-balanced diet.
We have wonderful natural outdoor play spaces, including a water play area, a veggie patch, sand play areas, luscious grassed areas for the children to crawl, walk and run on and a small forest of tress to explore in.
We have had incursions and also started going on excursions in the community. We have ‘Happy Feet’ dance and movement program and ‘Yoga Lisa’ come to our centre on a regular basis. We provide a wide range of activities and experiences on our programs.
Our team is dedicated to providing a safe, friendly environment that nurtures your child’s social and educational development. Our aim is to provide experiences so that children become successful, competent and capable learners. Whether you are looking for a new care and education centre or placing your child into care for the first time, feel confident that we will provide you outstanding service.
We welcome you to drop in at any time to learn more about our fabulous centre.
MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER
Hello, my name is Katie Bovenkerk and I am the Service Manager at Sparrow Early Learning Alkimos. My career has spanned over 19 years within the early education sector and I have wanted to work with children for as long as I remember. During my career I have obtained a Certificate 2 and 3 in Children’s Services and a Diploma of Children’s Services.
Throughout my career I have been very fortunate to work in different roles from Assistant Educator, working my way up to being a Service Manager. I have cared for and educated so many different and wonderful children over the years, making many lasting memories and wonderful relationships with the families using the service.
I was fortunate to work overseas on a few separate occasions. I worked as a Nanny in Italy caring for two young boys. It opened up my eyes to the many different ways people live and learn. I spent time in Canada in which time I was able to do volunteer work with some Early Learning Centres. These experiences have only enriched my passion for this industry.
I believe that each child is individual in all aspects of their learning and developing. Each and everyone have their own personality and their own way of doing things. I believe as an Educator it is our role to nurture each little quirk that makes every child who they are. Our role is to make our families welcome, comfortable and part of our Service. A quote that I love is “ If children can’t learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn”. It reminds us all that children learn in their own individual ways.
The main thing I feel you should be certain of when leaving your children, is that you’re a happy and confident in the Service you choose. We endeavour to make all of our families welcome!
We have a fantastic team here at Sparrow Early Learning Alkimos. We are eager to care for and teach the children here at the Service. We can’t wait to meet you!

WAITLIST & ENROLMENT PROCESS
We promote an open door policy where families can visit the centre at any time during operational hours and are offered a walk through and an overview of what we provide and offer as a centre.
Once families have completed a tour they will receive an enrolment pack with all necessary paperwork.
Once enrolled, the orientation process begins.
The orientation process is an arrangement made between families and staff that supports the family's needs.
