PLAY 'N' GROW EARLY LEARNING CENTRE & KINDERGARTEN
Carrum Downs, Victoria
ABOUT OUR EARLY LEARNING SERVICE
At Play ‘N’ Grow we embrace the image of the child as a creative, confident and active learner. Our qualified, Early Childhood Educators use the Early Years Framework as a guide which is intended to support curriculum decision making to extend and enrich children’s learning from birth to five years and through the transition to school.
We aim to provide programs that are fun, play based, eductional, inclusive and reflective.
The program is based on the developmental needs, interests and experiences of all the children in our care.
Our recreational program promotes a natural environment which provides opportunities to teach children about caring for the world in which we live including:
Gardens where children can dig and grow their own plants
Sandpits for sensory, symbolic and physical play
Plants to encourage birds, butterflies and other insects
Small pits of pebbles, gravel and river rocks for fine motor and imaginative play
Water play areas for sensory play
Trees which provide shade
There are four children’s rooms.
The Nursery which caters for children aged 6 weeks to 2 years
The Toddler which caters for children aged 2yrs to 3yrs
The Pre-Kinder which caters for children aged 3yrs to 4 yrs.
The Kindergarten which caters for children aged 3yrs to School age. (Fully Accredited, Government Kindergarten Program)
In line with the manner in which children learn in their early years, we provide a play-based curriculum that allows for sensory exploration in the belief that "there is nothing in the mind that was not first in the senses" (John Locke).
Increasing evidence shows that early childhood is the ‘window of opportunity’ for children to establish the beginnings of skills that will enable them to reach their full potential. It is our job, therefore, to create a safe, secure and supportive environment where through observation, interaction and careful planning we can provide appropriate, stimulating and challenging developmental activity to meet the needs of every child in our care.
Our aim is not only to provide a sense of wellbeing and belonging for your children but for your families as well and create a community that is welcoming and inclusive where three voices are heard – not only the voice of the teacher but also the voice of the child and the voice of the family. You are your child’s first teacher and we trust we will work alongside each other to continue what you have already begun - not only preparing your child for school but also preparing your child for life.
MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER
My name is Meg and I am the Service Manager Play N Grow Early Learning Centre and Kindergarten. I began my career in Early Childhood over 12 years ago and have progressed from Assisting Educator, Lead Educator, Second in Charge and now Service Manager.
Providing children with high quality education and care has always been my passion. I believe that the education and care children receive in their first five years helps shape the rest of their lives and I take enormous pride in being able to form relationships and contribute to shaping the futures of the many children I encounter.
My journey at Play N Grow began 9 years ago and I am fortunate to be part of a wonderful team of educators and community of families, some educators and families that have been with us along our entire journey as a service to date. Such longevity has provided me with amazing opportunities to witness a child’s growth from infancy to the beginning of Primary Education.
The strong relationships shared between our Educators and the children and families is a testament to the environment that we continue to nurture. I look forward to continuing to guide and mentor my team and continuing to foster a safe and secure environment where each child feels a strong sense of belonging and ensuring we are our Communities #1 choice for Early Childhood Education.

WAITLIST & ENROLMENT PROCESS
We promote an open door policy where families can visit the centre at any time during operational hours and are offered a walk through and an overview of what we provide and offer as a centre.
Once families have completed a tour they will receive an enrolment pack with all necessary paperwork.
Once enrolled, the orientation process begins.
The orientation process is an arrangement made between families and staff that supports the family's needs.
