ABOUT OUR EARLY LEARNING SERVICE
At Buggles Childcare Mandurah, we pride ourselves on being part of a large community whilst still maintaining close and long lasting relationships within it. We work in a mutually supportive environment that strengthens and builds on our relationships with the children and their families.
For the convenience of busy families we are open from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm and offer early education and care for children up to 5 years of age. We offer children healthy meals, a comfortable and safe learning environment with large outdoor shaded play areas and separate play spaces for different age groups. We provide interactive learning programs for all children and tailor these programs to meet their individual needs. For older children, we offer a comprehensive Kindy program.
At Buggles Mandurah, we foster and support great relationships with the families through our friendly, qualified and well-trained staff. All our educators hold qualifications from Certificate III and Diploma in Children’s Services through to BA level Early Childhood Qualifications as well as speaking many languages.
Our educators believe in listening to our children, and using their interests to provide inviting and challenging play experiences that in turn support their learning and development. Our practice reflects the Reggio Emilia Approach and this is evident in the environments and children’s individual and group work within our Service.
Buggles Childcare Mandurah has proudly received an Exceeding rating under the National Quality Standards!

MEET OUR SERVICE MANAGER
Hi, my name is Peta Whitfield and welcome to Buggles Childcare Mandurah. I have been working in early education for 10 years. One of my favourite parts of working at my centre is walking side by side with children and their families as they progress through the early childhood years.
What qualifications do you hold?
Certificate 3 and Diploma of Children’s Services
Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment
Bachelor of Education (almost complete)
What are you most passionate about?
Professionally: Education, and Personally: Family. Both are just as important as each other, and both form key foundations in education and care and govern my own beliefs and aspirations.
What are you most proud of at your Service?
What is your favourite inspirational quote?
I have two: “Education is the greatest weapon with which you can change the world” – Nelson Mandella; and “What a child can do today with assistance, she will be able to do by herself tomorrow” – Lev Vygotsky.
What inspired you to become an Educator?
I am a nurturer. It is intrinsically motivated within me to ensure that everyone is happy, loved and accepted. Without sounding to cliché, I was born to work with children and in the education sector.
What values are most important to you in your team members?
Teamwork, Communication and Passion.
We work in an industry that is constantly changing, we have to be open to change and embrace change to be able to offer the highest level of support to the children, families and educators we cross paths with daily. This openness to change fuels passion, the feeling of excitement and prospect through change and what can be achieved through change, is Passion.
One thing I say to my team on a daily basis is “in most cases we will spend more time with each other than with our own families. It is not expected that we will get along every day. What is important to me is how we move forward together.”
What is your philosophy about educating children?
Every child has the right to an education. My philosophy encompasses a number of theorists stemming from Maslow to Glasser, Csikszentmihalyi and Vygotski. These theorists all approach education from the behaviorist perspective supporting that motivation in any form stems from an individual’s ability to fulfill a basic need, and that if we guide a child and show them how to fulfill that need, the next time it arises they will have the ability to fulfill it themselves.
As a focus I believe children need to be given the opportunity to learn through risk. Exploration, innovation and cognitive computation all stem from the child’s comfort in knowing that their choices and aspirations are supported, guided and encouraged. I believe that we should encourage children to make mistakes, and teach them that mistakes are ok. After all, who can say they learnt a life lesson through doing something right the first time.
What makes your team/Service special?
We are a family, and the children and their families that come into our care, form part of our family.
As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a Singer or Teacher.
What is one of your hobbies?
I love anything that enables me to be creative!
What message would you like to tell parents considering your Service?
The past is exactly that. The future is unknown, but what matters is the present. When considering our amazing Service, don’t look to the past, focus on the here’s and now’s. We are all here and ready to walk with you into the future!

WAITLIST & ENROLMENT PROCESS
We promote an open door policy where families can visit the centre at
any time during operational hours and are offered a walk through and
an overview of what we provide and offer as a centre.
Once families have completed a tour they will receive an enrolment pack with all necessary paperwork.
Once enrolled, the orientation process begins.
The orientation process is an arrangement made between families and staff that supports the family's needs.
